At the Guernsey Riding & Hunt Club this morning for Clear Round jumping. Not many entries as still quite a few people away competing in the UK following the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. In addition some entries did drop out at the last minute.
However, for those that did jump, it was on the grass, it was dry and there were quite a few clear rounds. Unlike Rallies or Showjumping Challenges there are no placings in Clear Round. You go clear and you receive a rosette. Less pressure.
There were a couple of new pairings still getting used to each other so Clear Round jumping is an ideal way to do this. Today, with fewer horses and less spectators, there were also fewer distractions to worry about or spook at. All ideal for a young horse. They can just concentrate on the jumping.
As I jokingly posted on Facebook. I did think the course was quite challenging being tight and twisty, although very innovative, with a couple of obstacles that would give even the 12.2’s difficulties…!
Thankfully the seesaw wasn’t used and, of course, this wasn’t the Clear Round course but the course used by the Dog Club in the back field. Looks fun though.
